During the predawn hours I figured I would learn to post a Youube video. It's too time consuming. The video was taken on 2/19/15 at Allan's Cay Exumans during a westerly blow. It was probably the worst night I spent at anchor. If I could have safely weighed anchor, I would have been better off anchored on the banks.

Looks like it probably wasn't the best night's sleep. Thanks for posting it, for us temporarily landlocked folks it would be sweet relief. 8-)

IF you were extremely confident you would Not drag into a bad situation
and IF you were certain no other boat was gonna drag down on your boat.

To me looks like a long bad night w/o sleep.

I have anchored there a few times. Liked feeding the iguanas. Never ran into weather like that.

Never ran into weather like that.

The night before my departure from Key Biscayne, I had a restless night sleep trying to decide whether to depart or not. The forecast was for NW 20-30 kts. I woke up to a SW breeze and decided to go for it. The wind picked up and the seas lagged behind the forecast 7-9 ft. I made it behind Gun before dark. All month was good sailing for my 35 tons, except when 20-30 kts were predicted and the wind would die by noon. Some days I couldn't get into the dinghy. Never did get in the water.

There was a bristol looking Tayana that past me at Pecks Lake and then again at Key Biscayne on his way to No Name Harbor. Listening to the SSB as he would check into the weather net, I figured it was 7-10 days later before he got his weather window.

On my return I was at Chub. My intention was to anchor up at Cat for the night and then head back across to Miami. The wind filled in from the east at 25 kts., not giving me a lee to anchor, so I kept on going. I had a miserable down wind roll in 8 ft seas in the stream. There is a definite delineation of seas when you exit the stream. I would prefer the NWer over the easterly.
