I am in the US Coast Guard and just got back from a three year deployment. I am currently back in the reserves, but between active, reserve, and auxiliary time I have over 13 years of Coast Guard underway experience.

For permanent work, I am looking for an Able Seaman position on an OSV/PSV in the Gulf of Mexico. If anyone has any contacts, please help a fellow sailor out if possible.

In the short term, I am looking for any work. Deckhand, delivery, etc...Just need to pay the bills. I am currently located on the West coast of Florida, just north of Tampa. If anyone knows of anything, please let me know. Not fun coming back from three years of deployment to be an unemployed veteran. (The company holding my job while I was gone was sold while I was gone.)

My licenses include: 50ton Master, 50ton Mate, and Able Seaman. With commercial assistance towing.

BretonBayBoy,

I don't have any contacts but can give you a few Companies to try.

Tide Water
Edison Chouest Offshore
Mearsk Line Limted will get you on ships easily as AB especially with your experience. Your accumulated seatime will get you 3rd mate quickly.
Military Sealift Command
Seafarers International Union

http://www.maritimeprofessional.com/jobsite/ or
You can also try a maritime employment agency. They take a cut but better than nothing
