Hello all and Happy 2016... For those considering sailing to Cuba, you might be interested in the following.

Several weeks ago, our friend Addison Chan onboard the SV Three Penny Opera gave a one hour audio presentation on the VHF here in Boot Key. With Addison's permission, we have posted 2 copies of his presentation on the Sailing Off The Edge website.

The first copy is a streaming file (click here) that should open a new window with the complete one hour presentation plus the follow up question and answer session. Should you prefer to download the mp3 file to play later on your local machine, click here.

Keep in mind that as a Canadian citizen Addison has a few less restrictions than US citizens, but given the venue of his presentation, most of these differences are taken into account. Addison and his wife have been cruising Cuban waters for a number of years, and will be departing Boot Key headed that way in the next couple of weeks.

An entertaining and educational hour, and well worth a listen. Presentation may be copied and distributed free for non commercial use. Copyright 2015 Addison Chan (svthreepennyopera (at) gmail.com)

You CAN go to Cuba legally. Get a treasury permit to spend money there. Relations are improving. It is NOT the cuban government. Its the US of A Homeland Security paris airports transfers Gestapo who will cause you problems. Things are changing.. It was under President George W. Bush that had the executive decision to confiscate boats. Thats been over a while. But I still hear of hassles from the Homeland Security peoples about checking back into the land of "freedom". :o

i agree with you
